不思議な光を放つ佐々木類さん作のランプシェード。
雨や曇りの多い北陸の天気からインスピレーションを受けて生まれました。

本作品は蓄光物質を閉じ込めたガラスで作られており、日中に紫外線を吸収することで、暗闇の中で美しい青い光を放ちます。青く発光するその姿は、まるで星空のように幻想的です。

ガラス作家　佐々木類ーSasaki Ruiー

1984年生まれ。身近にある自然や生活環境にインスピレーションを得ながら、主に保存や記録が可能な素材であるガラスを用い、自分が存在する場所で知覚した「微かな懐かしさ」のありようを探求されている。

北欧やアメリカを中心に滞在制作招聘を受け、国内外の美術館などで展示活動を行っており、Jutta-Cuny Franz Memorial Award(クンストパラスト美術館/ドイツ)、Rakow Commission 2018(コーニングガラス美術館/アメリカ)、富山ガラス大賞展 2021(富山市ガラス美術館)など国内外でグランプリを受賞。コーニングガラス美術館、エベルトフトガラス美術館、ラトビア国立美術館、富山市ガラス美術館、金沢21世紀美術館などで作品収蔵も多数行っている。また、ニューヨークタイムズ紙などで作家特集も掲載されている。

現在は、石川県にて制作活動を行う。

Pendant light

This work features a glass lampshade created by glass artisan Rui Sasaki, emits an enigmatic glow. It was inspired by the rainy and often overcast weather of Japan’s Hokuriku region.

It is made of glass that encapsulates a phosphorescent material. By absorbing ultraviolet light during the day, it emits a beautiful blue glow in the dark, creating a dreamlike appearance reminiscent of a starry sky.

Sasaki Rui

Born in 1984. The artist draws inspiration from the nature and everyday environments close at hand, working mainly with glass as a material capable of preserving and recording. Through this medium, they explore the subtle form of nostalgia perceived in the places where they exist.

He has been invited to participate in residencies primarily in Northern Europe and the United States and has exhibited widely in museums and galleries in Japan and abroad, receiving major international awards including the Jutta Cuny-Franz Memorial Award (Kunstpalast, Germany), the Rakow Commission 2018 (Corning Museum of Glass, USA), and the Grand Prize at the Toyama International Glass Exhibition 2021.

His works are held in the collections of numerous institutions, including the Corning Museum of Glass, the Glasmuseet Ebeltoft, the Latvian National Museum of Art, the Toyama Glass Art Museum, and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. He has also been featured in publications such as The New York Times.

He is currently based in Ishikawa Prefecture, where he continues his craft.
