使い手の日常に想いを巡らせながら、木地挽きから漆の仕上げまでを手掛ける。拭き漆を中心とした、自然素材の美しさを引き出す技法でうつわ作りを行う。

Morikobako (small)
A work by wood and lacquer artisan Yuka Mabune.
A small wooden case that accompanies you through everyday life. Finished with natural beeswax to bring out the soft texture of Japanese horse chestnut wood. Fill it with tea leaves for tea time or your favorite snack of the day. Gently store your treasured accessories inside. Wrap it with a cord and tie it closed, then take it with you on your outings.
Please note that using the item with moist or wet contents, or exposing it to water, may cause stains or discoloration.

Yuka Mabune
While keeping the daily lives of the users in mind, the artist personally handles every stage of production, from woodturning to the final lacquer finish. Using techniques centered on fuki-urushi (wiped lacquer), the artist creates vessels that bring out the inherent beauty of natural materials.

2019 — Began studying under Kazuo Satake, a certified traditional craftsperson.
